Artastic March and Feeling Sketchy

Good day to you all! I hope your Monday is going wonderfully well!!

The latest inspiration challenge over at ARTASTIC is to be inspired by this painting..

Well when I saw that I thought it reminded me so much of my youngest.. and I found a serious photo of her and went with that..

She is so ... seriously cute..

 and a bit closer...

I was also inspired by the purplish back ground.. I have used old kaiser papers and flowers that I have had for years...I know the added criteria was to use a portrait photo, well mine was until I put it into the round frame!! I took it as a portrait photo is a photo of a face...

The Monday sketch is up at FEELING SKETCHY and I have created a card for it..

The sketch..
  and my card..

Well I have to get my skates on and get some other things done this afternoon!
Thanks for coming by and your comments are always appreciated!!

Once upon a Sketch March - Sunday Best

Hi there! It is a beautiful Saturday here and the washing is gently blowing dry on the line and I have time before I have to think about lunch to put up the latest layout I have created which is for OUAS - March.. I love the challenges that get put up over there but often I just run out of time to get them done.. not sure what I have done right this month but I sat down and created yesterday and got my layout done..
The challenge for march is..all about the weekend.. what does yours look like, what do you do...?

And to use this sketch..

Well apart from all the jobs on a Saturday that need to get done and I thought that was a bit boring, I thought I would share about my Sundays.. I was brought up in a Christian family and my Mum was a church organist, so it was very rare NOT to go to church on a Sunday, and most times growing up we went twice.. I still believe in going to Church on a Sunday.. it doesn't feel like a Sunday if I don't go for what ever reason.. The title of my layout is Sunday Best.. because as a child I had a set of clothes that were my best clothes and they were for Church on a Sunday.. Hence we still wear our best clothes to Church...

The journalling... Sunday for our Family is a day for getting dressed and going to Chruch.
A Sunday without Church does not feel like a Sunday.
We take time out for God and keep our faith alive.

I have used the Kaiser paper range Lulu and Roy..

I hope you have a marvellous weekend, thanks for taking time to come by my blog and thank you so very much for any comments you leave!!

SOUS, Life Paper Scrapbook, and Feeling Sketchy..

Happy Hump Day to you all! Wednesday.. again.. already.. and that means CARD SKETCH TIME FOR SOUS and another sketch that I really like and will keep in my card sketch folder to use again some time..
 The sketch from Sandi Clarkson...

and my card..

Thinking of you...

The latest color challenge for LIFE PAPER SCRAPBOOK is an interesting combination..
and my layout...
My gorgeous girl!

I used an imaginarium chipboard frame around my photo that I painted grey and then D.M-ed and then dropped some mini beads into the dimensional magic while still wet..and do you remember those 12 by 12 lace paper sheets.. I used one of those for my back ground.. I think I have had it for about 4 or 5 years.. I knew I would use it one day! hehee!

and I have also created a card for the sketch over at FEELING SKETCHY which looks like...
and I had a go at making a square card.. I used a square frame die on my big shot and created this little thank you card.. the smaller squares are lifted up with foam tape..
Thank you for coming by and checking out my challenge entries, I do appreciate each one of you, and your lovely comments too!!

Scrap the Girls March and have you heard about Google reader?

Hello! I hope your day is sunny and happy!!

The March challenge for SCRAP THE GIRLS is a color one... use black white and green..
I had a bit of fun with the back ground on this one! And Big W is now doing square photos so I used a square photo for a change...

Dream.

Lots of texture paste and stamping in the back ground, flowers and a gorgeous chipboard frame from 2 crafty that I painted black.. This is my beautiful daughter Hannah...

And yesterday I saw a post about Google reader closing down on 1st July.. Has anyone heard this?
HERE IS A LINK to have a look at.. I am not a computer whizz so if anyone can tell me what this means to blogging then I would be very appreciative.. I am thinking that it will effect the blogs on my reader not on the dash board of my blog..please correct me if I am wrong..I would not like to lose all the blogs I follow and love to keep with.. I know we have  a bit of time to sort it out so I am not rushing into anything.. but if anyone has any ideas, I would love to hear what you think!!

Anyways, as always, thanks so much for dropping by and your comments are  wonderful!!

WW1, Feeling sketchy and an award!

Happy Tuesday to you! Another week well on its way! And I have been scrapping!

The WHITE WITH ONE for March is to use White, brown and doodling... It is always amazing to me when I think OH I don't have that color in my paper stash that I seem to find quite a few papers.. and that is what happened when I thought about brown...
I used a photo that went well with the brown.. I have lots of photos of my girls and the horse we have here.. If horses could be models then this horse could be a model too.. He looks good in photos!!

A stable friendship is found in a horse!!

My doodling is around the photo and around the brown papers..as well as on the journalling tag...

The FEELING SKETCHY #50 card sketch looks like this..
and I have rotated it once anti clock wise and created this card..

I have used one of LIZZY HILL'S satin roses that she sent me a while ago..It adds a touch of elegance to my card.. so thanks Lizzy!!

And this last week I have been awarded the prestigious
not once but twice!! So thank you so very much, it is such an encouragement to get the mention.. and so I am to give this award to 10 other bloggers that I enjoy visiting who have less then 200 followers...

Paper Stories, K IT UP and feeling sketchy

Hi.. I hope you are having an enjoyable day.. It is Saturday here and I am putting up some challenges I have created during the week..  I am very lucky to have a scrap desk that I can leave and come back to, so when I have had a few minutes I go and create...

The sketch for PAPER STORIES intrigued me this month.. The thought of cutting your photo into 3 challenged me.. So as I was searching for a good photo to use I came across this one of my DD sitting on the beach looking out to sea.. I cut it into 3 and layered the middle section up on corrugated card for a bit of dimension..
The sketch.

and my layout... aptly titled... Bliss..

and a closer view of my photo..

The challenge for KRAFT IT UP for March is a sketch.. and being the sketch maniac that I am I was challenged to create... using this sketch..

Now I have a lot to learn about back ground stuff but I admit I had fun doing this layout.. and that is what it is all about anyways!!

Cherish Yesterday....

and some closer views.. I have used texture paste,  paint and a mask as well as hessian fibres and stamps and a few beads and some washi!!

and the card I created for FEELING SKETCHY is a birthday card for a male.. I don't do many of those..
the sketch..

and my card.

Well thanks for getting through this post! Thanks for coming by,  thanks for the lovely comments you leave me.. and I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

I have flipped it twice clock wise..

The DT have created some wonderful examples to inspire you.. So if cards are your thing.. I hope you get time to join in!!

The sketch for the Scrapbook Store is another lovely one that I just had to create with.. I have used the Bo Bunny papers Hello Sunshine and also the die cuts which I lifted up with foam tape for dimension..

The sketch.

March SWAT challenge and Scrapfriends - my first layout

A pinch and a punch and an umbrella for the first of a new month!! Yep still raining here!! I do think of so many who are really struggling with all this rain... lets hope we see some sunshine soon..

As the new month dawns, so do all the new challenges...

The sketch this month for Sketches With a Twist looks like this...

there are so many possibilities for this... And the TWIST is to use washi tape on your layout.. now if you do not have any washi I reckon any sort of tape would do... I used masking tape for a challenge once before I had any washi...

and my layout...

I used some gorgeous little photos of my great niece.. she has such a cute little face!! and when you can't choose just one photo... then use several photos!

And don't laugh, even though I am on the DT for SWAT and I totally knew the twist was to use washi, I did my layout and then thought... DANG!! where am I going to put my washi....
Problem solved... around the edges !!!

Little Miss..

I layered the die cuts with foam tape...

I used an older kaiser range, and washi around the edge looks just fine!!

Thanks to so many who did last months sketch for SWAT, your support is really apprecated..

and I see that the challenge for SCRAPFRIENDS first layout is still open I thought I would share my first ever scrap layout..

I began scrapping in January 2006 because I wanted to document the special moments in my youngest daughters life..  I was introduced to scrapbooking by my friend Marlene who also took me to my first scrap shop... yes they even had shops especially for scrapbooking.. mind blowing to me at the time!! The papers I have used were from Big W and I used lots of stickers in those early days.. I probably got the stickers from a dollar shop.. The photos I have used would have been from the first few days of January 2006, I know the one where she is holding the sparkler is from new years eve.. Since then my world of scrapbooking has grown so much, I am still learning, and some how my stash just seems to get bigger with each passing year... hehe!!
I feel so blessed to have taken this path, I have made so many friends and discovered there is more to my life than a tidy house, it is the joy of watching people look at my creations and enjoy them.. that is what will live on.. No one will remember the day I had the house spotless (than doesn't happen these days!!!) but they will remember that day or time that I put on a layout...and hopefully see the love that is on each page..

So my first layout...

It's a new year...

ah these photos are so precious.. my gorgeous girl.. 5 years old here..   That is what scrapbooking is all about..the memories...

Thanks for popping by and I do appreciate all the comments you leave me...
