get picky sketch #3

Hi all on this very wet day!! (good for sitting and scrapping!!) this is my take on the get picky sketch and may i say it was a challenge.. but i enjoyed scratching my head and playing with this sketch.. for two reasons.. because it called for 4 photos, and because i did a male layout.. (which are always a challenge for me..) and in the end i am pretty happy with the end result.. and who can resist baby  faces!!!???

White with one...

sounds like how i have my cuppa tea!!! anyhooo.. wanting to try a different challenge i thought to myself to hava go at the white with it had to use white.. and grey .. and masking... so not having much that was grey i thought grey is white and black in some proportion isn't it?? so i mixed some paint and painted some chippy's and away i went.. and quite happy with my end result.. the photo is of my girls together..and the masking is the brick wall you can faintly see... thanks for popping in and any comments will make my day cheerier!!

picky inspiration #2

wow today was wet so i scrapped! i had to think about the challenge from Get Picky this time..but i am pleased with what i came up with.. this is the inspiration we are to base our layout on.....

i took my colors from the blue lounge..and i  took the last line.... i believe in miracles... and used photos of my daughter and i.. we waited 8 years for the process of intercountry adoption to bring us together... pretty much a miracle when i think of the times it looked like it just wasnt going to happen with the country's unrest and the red tape to push through.. but it happened.. and what a precious miracle we now have...
so never give up if you have a dream!xx

CC @ S.O.D.!

hi! i have just finished three layouts for scrap of difference challenge weekend.. the theme this time was "how time flies" so the layouts had to be based on that theme.

"a beautiful life" is based on the way time has flown and my daughter is now a beautiful young woman... this was done for the sketch challenge.

"one moment please" was done for the color challenge which was to use a color combo of orange, blue, green and white.. the idea for this layout came about because life is so busy and the time just flies by so it is good to take a moment and watch the world go by..

and the layout "it take a long time to grow an old friend" was for the challenge to use the word time, have a clock and a bird on your layout.. my dear friend Marlene is in this photo with me. we used to work together in 1979... and she is such a wonderful person and a very special friend..
hope your day is not too busy today! thanks for stoppin by!!

what have i pulled out of the hat?

i have just finished my layout for the november out of the hat challenge.. the criteria was to use string (check) corrugated cardboard (fence) and have a painted background (which i did using an old bus pass, as i couldn't find an old bank card.. and put dollops of paint on the cardstock and pulled the card down towards myself to just leave sliding marks..i saw this done somewhere and thought i would have a go..) enough waffle.. this layout brings a tear to my eye as it is one of the last photos of my horse and i as she had arthritis in her legs and was finding it hard to get up from lying down and walking.. so i had to do the hard thing and say goodbye.. but she has left her hoof prints on my heart...

ARTastic challenge for November

this months challenge used the painting by Chris Wake called the beach as the inspiration...
other criteria called for a sand castle, bucket and spade or beach towel, a few seagulls and use a family beach photo.
. so i had a photo of my  girls and i taken at Stradbroke island in march.... i am happy with how it turned out.. a little less cluttered than usual for me..hummm maybe i am changing in my style..!!haha!! thanks for popping in!

layouts from october..

i have two layouts from october to share

i have joined in the fun at (scrap of difference) for a while now and Jo runs challenges each month.. one of which is a scraplift and a product challenge. i chose a layout from mrs docko as my foundations for my scraplift, but rotated the sketch and added a few different things..(as i do!!) My dear mum-in-law celebrated her 70th birthday in march and i thought the papers from kaiser were lovely for a feminine layout..

and the product challenge is to use kaiser flowers... and as i have a few (well more than a few....) i thought i would have a go at this one too!!  i used a sketch from sketch inspiration #147 for this layout..
thanks for popping in!!

get picky sketch challenge

howdi!! i hope this finds you all well.. today is absolutely beautiful.. sunny and warm... but enough talk about the weather... i have done the first sketch for and as one who very seldom uses more than 2 photos on a layout i found this was really great in trying to use 3 photos! and i like how this one turned out!!
only a couple more days to get this done.. thanks for stopping by!

S.O.D. C.C. October

No this is not some code you have to work out!! it is just short for Scrap of Difference Cyber Challenge!!
i have been on this site for quite a while now and they have a monthly challenge on the third weekend of each month. the theme for the last one was 'water'.. there is a sketch, a color and a technique challenge..the theme usually gets me wondering... what do i do?? but somehow i create something....and here are my layouts... first the sketch.. i pretty much followed the sketch (it was a page maps one) .. the technique was one i re-created from play group days! dish washing liquid, food coloring and water put in a dish and then air is blown into the mixture with a straw to make bubbles and then the paper is put on top of the bubbles and the pattern is formed on the paper! so much fun! the only thing was the backing paper was quite smooth and i needed lots of glue to keep everything stuck on.. and the color layout had to use the colors brown/kraft blue and yellow (but i used a butter yellow) all photos follow the theme of water!! thanks for popping in.. and thanks for any comments!!

my daughter hannah

i must be feeling a 'soft' today. my daughter hannah has turned 19. and i wonder where the time has gone. looking through some layouts of her and remembering how cute she was and how grown up she wants to be now...oh dear.. i cant help but hope and pray she makes the best choices for her cant put an old head on young shoulders..and there are times when the young person doesn't want to heed the words of their my dear hannah.. i love you so very much.. and i hope you have the best life and that God will always be there with you...

out of the hat challenge

wow the first of the month seems to come so quickly these days, and with it comes new scrap challenges. i have been enjoying being a part of the challenges that i find myself stumbling across as i hop from blog to blog. the latest i have done is the october out of the hat challenge which called for a book page, scallops and a hand made embellishment to be included in the layout.. my hand made embellishment is the kite, which looks great with the colorful ricrak attached.. sorry the photo has a mauve tinge to it that is how it turned out.. must try and be a bit more professional in putting photos on my blog!!
